What is changing?

The goal of the project is to safely reconfigure the road to accommodate everyone in our community. Key upgrades include:

• Pedestrian & Bike Upgrades: Expanded sidewalks, newly added crosswalks, and dedicated bike lanes.

• Safety & Aesthetics: Updated traffic signals, enhanced street lighting, and new landscaping.

• Infrastructure Upgrades: Better stormwater management systems, upgraded water and sewer lines, and moving overhead power and communication lines safely underground.

Timeline & Traffic Impact

Construction originally began in the spring of 2024 and is on track for completion by Summer 2026 (with a final ribbon cutting planned for October 2026).

While construction is in its final phases, students, parents, and staff travelling to and from school should expect occasional lane shifts, shoulder closures, and minor daytime delays. However, Main Street remains fully open to traffic and local businesses are open!

Get Involved: Main Street Community Parade!

To celebrate our community and support local businesses during the final year of construction, the city is hosting a Main Street Community Parade on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 12:00 PM. * Where: Conveniently for our community, the parade will start right here at the ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø (60 Normand Street) and head down to Maple Street, followed by a community lunch. All families and students are welcome to attend or volunteer!

• Wear a helmet:ÌýIt must fit snugly and sit level just above the eyebrows.
• Stay off sidewalks and fields:ÌýStick to designated bike lanes and roads, and always slow down near pedestrians, cars, turns, and wet surfaces.
• Stay focused:ÌýAvoid looking at phones or wearing earbuds while riding.
• Follow traffic laws:ÌýRide in the same direction as traffic and stop completely at all red lights and stop signs.
• One rider only:ÌýE-bikes are not built to carry passengers safely.
• Do the “ABC Check”:ÌýCheck theÌýAir,ÌýBrakes, andÌýChain before every ride.
