Our Program:
Ìý
Our program is broken into two components: Ìýdirect and indirect services. Ìý
Ìý
Direct Services:
Direct services are in-person interactions between the school counselor and student(s). Direct services include classroom social emotional learning (SEL) lessons, small group counseling and skills work, and individual student planning, as well as responsive services.
Ìý
- Classroom SEL lessons: Classroom SEL lessons will be taught as part of the Unified Arts 2 (U.A.2) Schedule. Students who have SEL class as part of their U.A.2 schedule will spend 30 minutes per week with their school counselor learning about and developing a wide range of social and communication skills, as well as self-regulation skills. The school counselors deliver this information using the SEL curriculum Everyday Speech.
- Small group counseling/skill work: Small group counseling and skill work may occur based upon student need. The counseling and skill groups may focus on topics of friendship, changing families, emotional regulation, and social skills, among other topics. Individual student planning: Individual student planning includes targeted, goal focused and short-term interventions on an as needed basis.
- Individual student planning: ÌýIndividual student planning includes targeted, goal focused and short-term interventions on an as needed basis.
Indirect Services:
Indirect Services are provided on behalf of students as a result of the school counselor’s interactions with others. These interactions include referrals for additional assistance, consultation, and collaboration with care givers, teachers and other educators and community organizations.
